Anne,
Thanks so much for your information, especially the month and day of John and Mary (Harris) Brayton's wedding; that was one more date that I didn't have (I had just the year). Thanks for letting me know about the family fires; it's a tragic loss for us Brayton descendants looking for information.Another Brayton descendant has sent copies of the pertinent pages of Clifford Brayton's books, which are also very helpful, although he mispelled the maiden names of my great-grandmother and grandmother (which were Beam and Rexroth, respectively).I would like to verify his documentation, so I will be sure to follow up your advice and look at what has been said previously on this forum (it's been a while since I looked).I am especially curious to know whether the family cemetery at Brayton's Crossing, south of Ft. Ann, is still in existence. My great aunts visited the cemetery in the 1930's and 40's, in the company of cousins from the Lake George area, writing notes about it and the cousins in the margins of the typewritten genealogy I have a copy of.Are you a direct descendant of the Braytons who remained in the Lake George area?I would be happy to send you a copy of the genealogy I have (which is dated Feb. 24, 1899, and signed M.B.) in exchange for any information you have that you would be willing to share. If you would like to do this, contact me again. Thanks again.
Kathy
