If your grandfather came from Canada, with a name like Breault, there is a very high probability that he came from Quebec.
Again, the first course of action would usually to find your parents marriage act (either at the church or at the town hall where they married), but since his father died young, it stands to reason that there won't be much detail in there.
Another clue would be to get your father's birth certificate at the church he was christened. There would appear his parents names and also very often their origin. Ask the church not for a transcription of the baptism but rather for a photocopy of the register's page where your father's christening appears. There are there often minute informations that don't get transcribed in the typed paper.
