The Death of Briettenbach
The death of Briettenbach, from the results of injuries received at the hands of the Marsh Brothers, in 1875, wasthe effect of Drunkeness. The latter were picking Berries on the German's lands, when Briettenbach ordered them to go away. They resited and attacked the old man, punished him so severely that their victim died within two days. The assaulting party came from Scio.

Murder of Martin Briettenbach
On Saturday, August 2, 1869, a difficulty arose between Edward Bycraft, George Bycraft, Walter Metcalf, Henry Marsh, Elisha Marsh, Evan Marsh and Ezra Marsh with Martin Briettenbach, by which the latter lost his life from injuries inflicted by one or more of the aforegoing named. Indictments were found by thejury against each, but nolle procequi entered as George Bycraft and George Metcalf. The reminder were tried November 251869. found guilty and recomended to the mercy of the court. A small fine was assed against each of the parties found guilty but Ezra Marsh, who was sentenced to one Year in the Penitentiary.
