I have just entered the Brewer family research, hoping to add to some data given to me years ago. I'm glad to see so many researching the families of Ambrose Brewer 1753. In fact, it is overwhelming. I am a descendant of Howell Cobb's daughter Nancy who married into the Seal clan. I have a lot of questions, but thought I'd go ahead and post the following tidbit of information about one of Ambrose's Brewer ancestors:
The date for Wm and wife secured on monument at the parish church of St Mary, the Virgin at Chard, Somerset, England. This church was built 1400-40 The memorial portrays the Brewer family under two arches, father and six sons to the left with the father kneeling on a prayer cushion at an alter; mother and five daughters on the right with mother kneeling likewise. All are in royal dress except one son at the back and left of others. This son is in plain Puritan dress.Vicar Art Hopley 1956 wrote "No doubt, he is the Thomas Brewer, who, with his sons, founded the colony of James Towne"
