My gggrandparents are James W Mathewson and Mary Brewer of Brewer's Mills. Mary Brewer married Thomas Kidd in 1846 in Kingston after James Mathewson died in 1843.
I found a record of a Mary Kidd's funeral at St Mark's Anglican in Barriefield (Kingston) on June 22, 1871 at the age of 59. That makes a birth date of 1812 which is right for Mary Brewer but the problem is that the church record does not state the name of Mary Kidd's husband. Do you have anything to verify that this Mary Kidd is in fact Mary Brewer. There is no cemetery at St Mark's and I have not been able to find this Mary Kidd's grave.
I have a lot of information about James W Mathewson since he was a Member of the Upper Canada Legislature from 1836 to 1840 (there are dozens of articles in the Kingston papers of the time that mention him and the mill at Brewer's Mills which he owned after John Brewer left the scene. I also have land transactions concerning the estate that show Mary and Thomas transferring title to the three Mathewson sons. There are a number of paintings by Thomas Burrowes that show the mill in the 1830's that can be found on the Archives of Ontario website.
I am looking for anything I can find on Mary Kidd (nee Mathewson, nee Brewer) as well as James W Mathewson.
