This was furnished to me by a cousin -- we are James Ashton was a great-great uncle, of a sort:
He is mentioned in a book, "The Wigfield And Nelson Families of Fauquier Co., Virginia" by J. Douglas Bradshaw.I will quote as follows: James Ashton Brewer, born 29 June 1878, Stafford Co.;, VA, son of Charles B. Brewer and Marian Hewett.James Ashton Brewer married in 1903 to Mable Lee Wigfield, born 29 March 1887, Roseville, Stafford Co., VA.She was the daughter of Douglas Nelson Wigfield and Dora Lee Moore Parr. James Ashton was a moulder in a foundry for a number of years but gave up that work and became a successful trader in the stock market. Mable was killed 11 Febuary 1937 at Gainesville, Florida, when she attempted to close an unlatched rear door of a moving automobile in which she was riding as a passenger. James Ashton died 8 April 1956 at Coral Gables, Florida, and both he and his wife are buried near Philadelphia, Pa.He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War. The children of James Ashton brewer and Mabel (spelled both ways in the book) Lee Wigfield were James Lloyd Brewer and Warren Daniel Brewer. James Lloyd, born 29 August 1905, Philadelphia, Pa., Married 16 April 1927 at Media, Pa., to Ruth Harriet Wilson, born 3 February 1909, Glenside, Pa., daughter of E. E. Wilson and Gertrude Hetherington. He died 6 March 1979 in Mexico City, Mexico and is buried in Ashville, N. C. All of the above info is from Doug's book.Several of the family spent time in Philadelphia. If you have any info on the Brewers there, I'd appreciate it.
