WYCHE BREWER was born July 6, 1798 in Georgia, and died March 17, 1877 in Conehatta, Scott Co., Miss.He married FLORA Mc PHERSON in Alabama about 1821.She was born December 1, 1803, in Mississippi Territory, and died February 6, 1866, Conehatta, Scott Co., Miss.
Wyche Brewer is in Butler Co., Alabama in 1830, Sumter Co., Alabama in 1840 and Scott Co., Miss., in 1850 and thereafter.
Children of Wyche Brewer and Flora McPherson are:
i. LUVENIA BREWER, b. February 11, 1825, Butler Co., Ala.; d. February 18, 1897, Union, Newton Co., Miss., m. ALBERT GALLATIN PETTY about 1845, son of John Petty and Anna Harris.
ii. MARTHA BREWER, b. about 1823.
iii. MARY BREWER, b. about 1830.
iv. NANCY BREWER, b. about 1834.
v. MELISSA BREWER, b. about 1838, m. IRVIN MILLER.
vi. WILLIAM BREWER, b. about 1840.
vii. LENORA BREWER, b. about 1828.
viii. ELIZA BREWER, b. about 1832.
ix. HENRIETTA BREWER, b. about 1836.
x. CHRISTIANA BREWER,b. about 1827, Butler Co., Ala.; m. JOHN WRIGHT PETTY, son of John Petty and Anna Harris, about 1846, Scott Co., Miss.
I surmise, but cannot prove, that Wyche was a son of WILLIAM BREWER, present in Conecuh Co., Alabama in 1820.William Brewer was listed with two adult white males, five white males under 21, 1 adult white female, and three white females under 21 in the 1820 Census.JAMES BREWER and GEORGE BREWER, both with small families, are present in Conecuh Co., Alabama in the 1820 census.Listed next to William Brewer was WILLIAM McPHERSON, with two adult white males, five white males under 21, two adult white females, and two white females under 21, who is possibly the father of Flora.(In the 1850 Census there is “O. McPherson,” 75 WF, born Scotland. Is she Flora’s mother?)
GEORGE and ABIGAIL (WYCHE) BREWER descendants are found in Washington Co., Alabama early in the nineteenth century.(see Brewer Forum messages 457, 466, 2567) and were known to have sons JOHN, GEORGE, WILLIAM, HENRY, JAMES, JESSE.If my hypothesis that William Brewer, 1820 Conecuh Co., Ala., is the father of Wyche Brewer, then he should be the son of one of these six men.I have some information that at least two of these men did have sons named William, but lack sufficient detail about where they lived to narrow the search down enough to establish any reasonable probability as to the lineage of Wyche Brewer or William Brewer. Can any Brewer researchers help?
