You may have stumbled across my GGGgrandfather. My GGgrandfather is Nathaniel David Jackson Brewer (1806-1916). We have believed that his father was James W. Brewer (abt 1775-1838) and grandfather Nathaniel Brewer born in the 1700's.But there is no proof.N.D.J. states in the 1840 census and all subsequent censi that he was born in North Carolina. I have been looking for two years for our Nathaniel's parents, brothers and sisters. Some researchers I have met have been looking longer than that.
Nathaniel D.J named his children, John Franklin, William Franklin, George H., James W., Nancy, Thomas Marion Timothy.... as you can see, many similar names.Perhaps this is a shot in the dark, but I am going to take this reference home and check it out. Thanks for the LDS number. We have a library right here in town.
Our Nathaniel moved to the southern tip of Carroll County Tennessee near the Henderson Border and attended church at the Holly Springs Baptist Church with several other Brewer families, including the children of Benjamin Franklin Brewer and Joseph Brewer.I can't help but believe they were all related somehow.
There is also another Nathaniel Brewer that was born in 1815 in North Carolina and moved to Henry County where he lived until 1860 when he moved to Carroll County. They have been confused in many records. And they could be confused here also.Real proof is going to be hard to find, I am afraid.
Thank you so very much, Bob Brewer Fort Collins, CO
