Once again, let me say, in a non-antagonistic way, nodocumentation has ever been found (not any that I have ever seen or heard of) that would tell us George Brewer, husband of Sarah Lanier, was the son of John Brewer III.I am aware that many Brewer researchers believe this because of Mrs Ingersoll's assumption, but no actual facts have ever appeared in any primary material so far studied.I have done Brewer and Lanier research, mostly in England but also in Virginia and North Carolina, since the 1960s. Anything is possible but until we have factual material it seems to me it should always be noted, that "John III being George's father", is an assumption and not a fact.
Many people are listing George as George G. Brewer.I believe if you study George's will you will see that the letter G was what he used as his mark on official papers, being illiterate.I have other ancestors who did the same thing. They would learn to write one letter to be used as their mark.
I believe we are all striving for the same thing, our family line done in as true and factual a way as it is possible to do.To accomplish this, where it is at all possible, good documentation is the only answer.
Just thought I would give my opinion, for what it is worth.
