My bad on the John brewer/Mary frazier listing. It should have been listed: John Brewer/Tempy? Joseph "Joe" Brewer/Mary Martha "Mollie" Frazier etc....
Sorry about that. That's what I get for answering several posts at once :) Anyway, looks like we're the same generation and age. Seems that my g-grandfather, Richard Harvey Brewer, was cousin to your g-grandfather, James Richard Brewer, since their fathers, Emberson Jerry and "Black Sam", were brothers. So the first Brewer ancestor you and I share, is Joseph.
There must have been another Jerry Brewer that your grandfather remembered because mine died in 1909 from a stroke. I found the death records. He was in the Civil War in Vicksburg in 1862 and he would have been 19 or 20 years old during that war. Your grandfather would have been about 1 year old when he died. Perhaps your g-grandfather, James Richard, had a brother, Jerry, named after mine, since they would have been nephew and uncle. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I subtracted your grandfather's age (87) from his death date (1997) and he could not have remembered my g-g-grandfather.
Look forward to hearing from you again. Maybe between the two of us we can get these Jerry's straight. I also know that there were two Emberson's in the family and that's probably why my g-g-grandfather went by his middle name of Jerry.
