Looking for information about James Davis Brewer. According to family legend, James fought a duel to defend the honor of his sister Lizzie - possibly Elizabeth. Details of the legend are sketchy, but indicate James was too young for Civil War service, so the duel would have been after the war. He won the duel, but fled to avoid prosecution. It's said he later went back to take his sister to his new home, but she had married and remained in GA. The first documentation we have on him was 1895 in Whitesboro, Grayson County, TX. He died about 1898. The legend says he also had a brother named Lowell who died in GA as a young man in the 1860s. Any information is appreciated.
