In 1856 Willis bought a slave woman and her son Glass for $800.00. The slave womans name is not known, but she is the one that was stolen and Glass tried to find and was killed. Glass served the Brewer family until he was freed. There is a stone marker at the foot of either Willis or George Washington Brewer. I can't remember, it has been so long since I have been to Hickory Valley Cemetary. The stone marker is for Glass Brewer he was buried at there foot because he was so important to the Brewer family.
