I too belong to the Brice line from Allowenshay. My line runs through Robert Brice, b about 1792 and had a son called John Brice b 1812.Robert was the brother of James Brice who married Hannah Macey.Anyway I too have not been able to find any George Brice that I can link into my tree, but I have found a George Brice b about 1798 and who married Jane Shriven in Hinton St George, which is only a few miles from Allowenshay. They married on 12 October 1818 in Hinton and stopped having children in about 1836, presumably when Jane died, but I cannot find any record of her death.Interestingly, on top of the children had by George in the 1841 census there is one Harriett Brice who was christened 15th September 1833 to George and Jane, but I presume she died early.I do not know who George's parents were.
However, the William who married Jesse Chick, I believe, was the son of William Brice/Britain, who was the son of Diana Brice and was born 15/6/1765. I also believe that William Brice/Britain may have been illegitimate because both he and his children also go under the name of Britain (as found in the familysearch website).Diana Brice later married Daniel Hill in 1777 and I cannot find any record of Diana marrying a Britain.Diana also had a daughter callerd Alice (Allyss) who went under both Brice and Britain and was christened on 12/3/1769.She also appears elsewhere as the daughter of Daniel Hill.It should be noted that Britain can be spelt Britain, Brittain, Briton, Britten or numerous other variations!
If anyone can shed any further light on Diana Brice, I would be very interested!
