Carla, the photo you are referring to is one I took in September 2000. It gets around, usually without any credit to me. Anyway, the William in Ralls Co., Missouri, and William buried in Walnut Grove are two different Williams but both from Amherst/Nelson Co., Virginia.
William Nathaniel Bridgewater [Jonathan, Nathaniel, Jonathan, Nathaniel, Samuel the Immigrant] was born 7 November 1839 in Nelson Co., Virginia, son of Jonathan Bridgwater and Mary W. Puryear. His mother died 15 June 1848 in Nelson County, survived by her husband and four children. William was a life long resident of Virginia and of the right age to find himself caught up in the Civil War. He served the Confederacy and was later pensioned by the State of Virginia. After the end of the war, William was married on 31 March 1868 in Albemarle Co., Virginia, to Mary “Mollie” Pinkard Bailey. Mary was born July 28, 1847, daughter of Thomas R. Bailey and Ann Eliza Brand. She died May 7, 1911, followed by William on 15 November 1925. Both are buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery near Rockfish.
