I am working on my Vane Family and found that Sir John Bright, lst & Last Baron of Badsworth, Yorkshire, was the 2nd husband of Frances Liddell (1655-1682), widow of Thomas Vane, son of George Vane and Elizabeth Maddison of Durham. She was John's 3rd wife and she died 3 months after they married, in a carriage accident on her way from London. He married (1)before 1657, Catherine Hawksworth, and they had two children:Catherine, died in Feb. 1703, and John, born c1658, died before 1688. John did not have other children. He lived at Carbrook, Derbyshire. His wives were: (1) Catherine Hawksworth, dau of Sir Richard Hawksworth and wife, Anne Wentworth.Mother of his two children. (2) c1665, Elizabeth Norcliffe, dau of Sir Thomas Norcliffe and Dorothy Fairfax. (3) 11 July 1682, Fraces Liddell, widow of Thomas Vane. (4) 7 June 1683, Susanna Wharton, dau of Michael Wharton. He was very active politically, a Member of Parliament, A Colonel in Oliver Cromwell's Army against King Charles I. Sheriff of Yorkshire; Governor of Yorkshire. Admitted to Gray's Inn on 18 June 1639. One of his famous remarks: "He is a self-made man and worships his Creator."
