This is preliminary documentation to 2/23/2000 to aid in further research.More research needs to be done to verify these relationships (although everything listed here is from historical records).I am hoping to receive by mail a handwritten Brigman History from someone in Walker Co, GA that may shed further light on this family. If so, I will pass this on.

Sorry, if this sounds strange... but better you with the snow than us!!
hate the stuff and am as far north as I care to be. We had a beautiful
today with the temps in the lower 70s. My kind of weather!!!!
Terri, first let me tell you that Walker County is a burned county. All
courts records were lost in a fire on 8 Feb 1883. (I heard that groan
the way to GA.) So, finding marriages, wills, probates, deeds, etc.,
time period you are searching will be next to impossible. Unless, you
someone with an old hand written copy or somthing similiar.
The next thing is finding marked graves. Very few of those before
People marked graves with fieldstones and sometimes not even that.
I'm going to give you a list of burials in Walker County from the first
cemetery book. If you want any or all just give me the names and I'll
them for you.

There were 17 graves in this cemetery with 10 unmarked for a total of
approximately 27 if the unmarked are counted correctly.
I found several references to the BRIGMAN family in the old HISTORY OF
WALKER COUNTY, by James A. Sartain, 1932.
This book can be purchased in softback. It is $30.00 plus about $3.00
There is also an article in the HISTORY OF WALKER COUNTY, 1833-1883 on
103. The article was written by J. Forrest Jones.
It said Joshua Brigman was born 1781, died 1844; married Temperance
(born 1791, died 1859).
Moved from Carolinas to Walker County.
Bought land about 9 miles north of LaFayette on what was the Stage
Line from Rome, GA to Ringgold, GA ca 1835/6.
The family cemetery is south of the home where family members and
