Hi Noel, thankyou for passing onthe website link. It is so interesting to find more information on the Brindleys and to know they were involved in the actions of their times.
The Brindley I found in our line, John Brindley, b Audley Staffs., enlisted1792 was a soldier in the 2nd regiment of Life Guards. He served 25 years, however, he remained in England. He joined in 1815. I can imagine, the excitement that allthe people, and especially young men felt about Waterloo in those days.
John had a son, also John, b 1822who also went into the military, 73rd Regiment of Foot.(1841)I expect his father must have encouraged him,but he did not stay with it as his father had.
Thanks again, Noel, for passing along this fascinating material about earlier Brindleys.
