Dear Judy and Stephen,
In her book on her family, Lillian Duryee Osmun (Duryee Genealogy, published privately by Perrins Brenenstul, New London:Ohio., 1917), has this to say about Susan and Robert:
Susan M. Duryee, born 21 September 1850, Osseo, Hillsdale, County, Michigan, died 28 August 1908, Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, daughter of George W. Duryee and Julia Howell, married 30 June 1867, Osseo, Hillsdale County, Michigan, Robert Henry Brenenstul.
Susan M. Duryee and Robert Henry Brenenstul had issue:
1. Henry Matthew Brenenstul, born 26 January 1871, died 23 May 1932, married first Mary Simmons and had Harold Brenenstul, born 1893, date of death not discovered, married Katherine (___) and had daughter Mary Jane Brenenstul; married second Wealthy Shannon and had children Effie Louise Shannon, born 1910, married James M. Blackhall and had issue Helen Louise Blackhall, born 14 August 1933, Gallion, Ohio; and Roberta(10) Ann Blackhall, born 28 April 1939.
2. Perrins Brenenstul, born 1889, date of death not discovered, married Florence West. In June 1917, Perrins caused to be published at New London, Ohio, the Duryee Genealogy, compiled by Lillian (Duryee) Osmun.
Stephen, Susan's father George W. Duryee was the brother of Simon Duryea and this Simon was the father of Emeline Duryee, wife of Burnett. That is, Susan (Duryee) Brenenstool was the first cousin of Emeline (Duryee) Burnett. What I have on Burnett's stats and ancestry is taken directly from your excellent web site (which, of course, is properly and fully cited).* Another brother was William Henry Duryee and he was the father of the author Lillian (Duryee) Osman, a first cousin, then, to Susan and Emeline.
Additions and Corrections gratefully solicited,
Richard
* the footnote citation reads: A family group sheet for this Duryee/Burnett family is located on the Internet, 20 April 1999, composed by Stephen G. Fuller ([email protected]) at http://members.aol.com/GenQry/index.htmhttp://members.aol.com/GenQry/index.htm which essentially agrees with the work of Mrs. Osman. Mr. Fuller adds that the full name of Mr. Burnett was William Esmond Burnett and that he was born 11 October 1841, Jackson County, Michigan, died in 1913, the son of John Burnett and Judith Otto, married Emeline(7) Duryee on 24 December 1863. He adds that Emeline(7) died in 1941 and that this couple and several of their children are buried at East Hill Cemetery, Osseo, Michigan, the town in which they resided. There are presently no citations for Mr. Fuller's information.
