I believe all the information that you gave me is correct.Even if I have not seen the documents, I believe that the widow Philip English married Sara Ingersoll in Sep 1698 and that they had a son John/Jean.Do you have the birth information for this son?
They could not be the parents of my JB’s father Jean/John because he was born before they got married.
If they connect they would most likely be the parents of my Jean Baptiste Pin-dit-Langlois born about 1708, 10 years after they got married. So far that all makes sense to me.I know about dit names and changing names from French to English, because that was very common in those days. I admit that he could be John English.
My big concern is, if Philip English was JB’s father, why did he say that Jean was his father”?He should have said Philip was his father.
Also if Sara Ingersoll was the mother of JB why did he record her as Marie Gervais in one marriage contract and Marie Herve in another. Why did he not say that his mother was Sara Ingersoll?
You are not taking up my time. This is what I enjoy doing and I would really truly like to have Philip as part of my genealogy. I love his story. Sorry if I am a bit of a stickler about this.
