Henry Brittingham and Sarah Mills Sturgis MD IN
Henry Brittingham married Sarah Mills Sturgis on 9 January 1832 in Worcester County, Maryland. After their marriage the family removed to Jennings County, Indiana where they appeared in the 1850, 1860, and 1870 censuses.Henry used name John in one of the censuses but his name was Henry W. Brittingham when his Will was probated in Jennings County in 1865.At the next 1870 Jennings County, Indiana census the widow Sarah (Sturgis) Brittingham and her son George lived adjacent to her brother Handy Sturges (He used Sturges rather than Sturgis in all records relating to him). Handy Mills Sturgis, or Sturges as recorded in all descendant records, and Sarah Mills Sturgis were both children of John Outten Sturgis and wife Leah Mills of Worcester County, Maryland. Henry and Sarah Brittingham had at least 5 children listed in the census but their ages were not consistent. They were all born in Maryland so must have left Maryland just before 1850. Have found no record of any Brittingham family member after the 1870 census. This posting made for record purposes in case someone is from this lineage.
