Hi Debby, I have the "complete" Brockett genealogy that I have researched and rewritten for my family. If you would like a copy, please e-mail me directly at [email protected] and I'll send it to you.
John was one of the original settlers of New Haven, CT. He was the one who layed out the town plan, did the surveying, etc. He also did the same job for Elizabeth City, NJ. The genealogy question surrounding John was about his connection to Sir John Brockett, the great friend of Queen Elizabeth. In fact, he was not that Sir John's son as was originally thought, but a nephew. The exact connect is in my Brockett genealogy. There are other Knights in the family line going back through the crusades. Their monuments are found in Brocket Chapel. For fun, you can go to the Brocket Hall (note one t) web site. In is now a golf resort and awsome holiday, meeting place for well off London companies to book retreats etc. In any case it gives you a good look at the old family grounds. Most of the current Brocket Hall building is new since John Brockett's time.
As a point of reference, I am the grandson of Minnie Bell Kay Brockett.
