I know of a few BRODERICKS who ended up in Pocahontas county, IA. mid 1800s.Bridget BRODERICK (b. May 1821, Athenry, County Galway,) married John CALLIGAN, also from Galway, at Ellsworth ME, in 1849 and removed to Iowa in 1856.Her sister Ellen BRODERICK married Phillip Russell and lived in Pocahontas county.Brother Michael BRODERICK farmed 40 acres next to this CALLIGAN family (possible other siblings Matthew andMargaret).
John CALLIGAN'S death record lists his mother's maiden as "Miss FORD".
Walter FORDE was one of the pioneers that settled in the same township with John CALLIGAN.He too was from Galway.Hissister (or niece)Mary FORDE married Thomas CROWELL in Ireland (possibly from the Craughwell district)and they settled in Ellsworth, ME for a number of years.Another FORDE sister, Celia, married a BRODERICK and remained in Galway.
Other associated lines are SHAUGHNESSYS-Ballylin, HURNEYS-Rhynn and GREANY/GARVEYS-Lisheenavalla in Ireland and HOPKIRKS in New Zealand.
I am looking for other descendants of these families to correspond with.
