Now look at the previous message I posted in regards to this. I came up with a completely different approach to the Brogdon/Stallings link, but yours has a lot more info going for it. Now see, I have a James Connelly Brogdon b. 3/19/1821 with three sisters who came to Butler Co. as a boy. He would have been the right age to be a brother to Nancy Flynn. And I also show he was the son of William Joseph Brogdon who married Francis (sp.?) Fly. He went to Alabama around 1825-1830.
William Joseph Brogdon's parents are listed in my info as Malachi Brogdon and wife Mary Tobias who moved to Sumter Co. S.C. I have a note that says a large family of Brogdons lived at Brogdon, S.C. but don't know what the connection might be. A brother (of Malachi's, I presume) John I. Brogdon went to Louisiana.
James Connelly B. appears to have been my 3rd great grandfather. His sister must have been Nancy Flynn. But I didn't think about the name Brogdon/en still having different spellings at that late date.
James Connelly B.'s son was Lovett B. Brogdon, b. 9/10/1851,Lovett went to Texas by covered wagon and settled around Bryan, TX. He moved to Houston about 1895.He "operated a boarding house for awhile then moved about 9 miles west of the city on a 5-acre tract at what is now the corner of Brogdon Road and Beinhorn.Later moved about a block away on what is now Beinghorn Rd....Died 1928 in Houston."
Ernest Bernard Brogdon was my great-grandfather whom I met as a small child. He was the son of Lovett and the brother of Vas Hubert Brogdon Sr. I got the information beyond Ernest Bernard B. from Vas Hubert Brogdon Jr. after I met his son and daughter-in-law on the Riverwalk in San Antonio. The info has errors in it, some of which my father and I were able to correct. Some of the info, I can't verify. My father lost contact with his father for most of his wife when his father's second wife severed their relationship.
Ernest Bernard B. was the father of my grandfather, Ernest Chalmers Brogdon (my father's father). He lived three blocks from me for years when I was a child, but I never met him. I only saw him one time from a distance. My father was Ernest Sommer Brogdon.
And I am Kathryn Brogdon Merritt. Hope we can help each other a bit here. I am trying to put the pieces together because I just never knew much about my father's family. You've helped me already -- thanks. I have a little more info which you are welcome to if you'd like.
