Hi Sue, Only just starting out and not very computer savvy so please bear with me. My greatgrandmother's name was Sarah Brooking and her parents were John Brooking and Harriet Whiddon. She married Thomas Hannah in Geelong Vic. AUS on 10/3/1903 age 31. Thomas was a widower with 8 children from his first wife who just happened to be Sarah's older sister, Alice who had immigrated in 1841 to NZ onthe Barque "Timandra" as a domestic servant with her older brothers John and William. Alice married Thomas Hannah (Master Mariner)in NZ abt 1843 and had two sons John & William then they immigrated to NSW Aus had two daughters Janet & Alice and then in 1852 moved south to Williamstown VIC where Alice had another 4 girls, Harriet, Kate, Annie & Mary. Alice died in 1861 aged 34 and I think a 22year old Sarah arrived here (VIC) in Dec 1855 on the Eliza Goddard (I'm still checking on this). Sarah went on to have 8 children to Thomas. Thomas Parker,(1863)Henry Edmond (1865)George Arthur(1866)Florence Brooking (1868)Frederick Walter(1870)-my Grandfather, Alfred Charles(1872)Albert Victor(1874)Nellie Sophie(1878)Was Sarah Whiddon who married Richard Cole the same Sarah who married Thomas Hannah? her marriage certificate shows her as a spinster. She died on 6th June 1903 aged 68 years 43 weeks 5 days of a nasty dose of grastritis which resulted in heart failure. I don't know if this is any help to you but I'd sure liketo know any info on the UK family. Kateps. My Dad's name is John Brooking Hannah.
