Thank you so much, Alan, for your information and for sharing it with me. I really appreciate it. I had hoped that any descendants of Charles might help me learn more about the Pierces (Pearces). But it is not to be...typical of so many genealogical searches, I'm afraid. Charles was a nephew of John Pearce, born England ca. 1830, according to the 1860 and 1870 Oregon census records and the Donation Land Claim records. (He died in 1892, but the 1880 census for the area in which he resided seems to be non-existent). The only clue we have is that a granddaughter said that he lived in Albany Co., NY. There is a Mary Pearce (Pierce), with a son, John--also sons Josiah and Charles--in Cohoes. So we think that is the family. In any case, you can see that your information has really been helpful. Now I know what became of Charles!
Thanks again.
