You keep mentioning your aunt Marg - what is the rest of her name? Or are you referring to Margret (Brown) Brotnov? It looks like Taryn had some good information and she referred us to Tore, who also added some more. It looks like Mikal was probably born in 1866 and not 1865. Here is the note I received from Tore:
Good morning, Bruce. Things are a bit hectic these days but I did a quick look up and YES, Mikal was the son of Kristian Eriksen. He is listed as being born in 1866 but so is Johanne and then there are Marie born in 1870 and Karl in 1873. Already in the 1850's Kristian was a cotter on Nordstun, a small place or cottage under Brotno or Brotnu as it is also written (families living there today and who have taken the name use Brotnov). Although I was born and raised in the other end of the municipality one year I went to school located just next to Brotnu so I know the area well , or used to. It also says that Kristian was from Låvegseiet and Karen was from Haugerud, two other farms or cottages. He died in 1900 and she died in 1898.
Some time later when I have time I will see what I can find and possibly find a connection to include them in my "Nannestad Forest." Please remind me again if you don't hear anything. I sometimes forget things ;-) Cheers, Tore Bjerkek
