I have a little information I found while searching for a cousin. He is a descendant of a Joseph P. Brown, born about 1828, possible in Castine, Hancock Co.,Maine.This man died in Buchanan Co., Missouri in 1891.
From a book "Maine Genealogical Records Committee, Series 1, V. 180, I copied information on Rev. Jospeh Brown who was born in England in 1760, but was in Deer Isle, Maine, Hancock Co., in 1804.There is mention of a son Rev. Charles M. Brown, who settled in Tremont, Maine; a son Philemon; a son Americus, and a son Joseph, none of whom remained permanently in Deer Isle.A daughter was a Mrs. Davenport, of Newburport, (Mass?).Rev. Brown was a Baptist minister, and I believe Joseph P. Brown was also a Baptist.
Philemon Brown was born about 1791 and had (among others) a son Joseph born May 10, 1825.
Rev. Charles Moulton Brown was born 29 July 1796, md. Sarah Carnes, had a family of children and is "ADVANCED."(this was in caps and underlined; don't know what it means). The only child listed on the page I copied was Epaphroditus Brown (the first letter of the first name could have been an S.He was born about 1799.I did not copy further information.
There was further information on Joseph, including lines which were on a gravestone removed many years ago.
