Dave Patterson here, descendant of John Milton Patterson and wife Mary Ruth Kincaid Browning. Believe we may have corresponded in the past.
Am curious if you can confirm the "died 22Jan1855 Leon or Ellis Co, Tx." for Mary Ruth. This period is somewhat fuzzy in my research of John Milton, as some accounts show him marrying his second wife Sarah Pitillo as early as 1852 and fathering a child (Kenneth Fletcher Patterson)with her (Sarah) in 1853/4 (1860 U.S. Census for Parker County, Tx shows young "K" Patterson as 6 years old).
Do you know Mary Ruth's circumstances/marital status at time of her death?
I'm sorry I can't give you any further data on John Browning, but you may be interested to know that some of the Patterson research indicates Mary Ruth may have been Native-American.
Yes, John Milton and Mary Ruth Kincaid Patterson were definitely Methodist; in 1842 they named one son John Wesley Patterson. This John Wesley, and his son (also John Wesley) were Methodist ministers.
I hate "spelling nazis", but the woman John Browning married was named FrancEs. FrancIs is the male version of the name, and I really only mention it because we have numerous men in our line named Arthur Francis, and I have wandered down many a garden path because I misspelled the name into a search engine.
