THOMAS BROWNING, 87, formerly of Pleasant Street, a retired truck driver and jewelry worker, died yesterday at Ridgewood Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was the husband of the late Marie (Lena) Browning. Born in Putnam, Conn., a son of the late Alex and Ethel Browning, he had lived in Central Falls and North Attleboro before moving to Attleboro several years ago.
Mr. Browning had been a laborer, driving a truck for ice, coal and wood companies in the area, and had also worked in the jewelry industry for many years.
He was a veteran of World War II.
He enjoyed traveling, bowling and dining out.
He leaves no immediate survivors.
The funeral will be private. Burial will follow in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
Robert "Bob" Browning, 65, Terra Alta, W.Va., died Saturday, Sept. 11, 2004, at his home.
Born Dec. 26, 1938, in Central Falls, R.I., he was a son of the late John and Irene Papineau Gallant. He was also preceded in death by one brother, John Gallant.
He was a member of St. Edwards Catholic Church, Terra Alta. He retired from the U.S. Army with 21 years of service, and also retired from Bell Telephone Company with 20 years of service.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Virgie (Mims) Browning; two sons, Gene W. Browning, Bruceton Mills, W.Va., and Robert (Dugan) Browning, Mark-leysburg, Pa.; one daughter, Kelly Ann Browning, Terra Alta; one foster son, Matthew Allen Hunt, Terra Alta; two sisters, Gloria Gallant, Terra Alta, and Elaine Adams, Lady Lake, Fla.; and three grandchildren.
Friends were received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta, where a vigil prayer service was held.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at St. Edwards Catholic Church, with Father John M. Lee, CP, as celebrant. Military services were conducted by Preston County VFW Posts.
