Thanks for the info.A number of years ago, I corresponded with someone researching the Isaac Browning / Melton group in AR.I believe it was Duane Melton, but I'd have to go look at back records. Are you in touch with him?
We had concluded that there was no obvious connection between my Isaac and his, although the coincidence and proximity were suspicious.
"My" Isaac (I'm not a direct descendant; rather, I descend from his relative, and suspected brother, Benjamin) is found first in GA in the 1770's, where he is apparently a Loyalist - in speech only - and is put on the Confiscation List because of it.Benjamin is found in 1783 fleeing around theSouth - from FL to AL after leaving GA - probably for the same reason.Eventually, both end up in SE LA, near Baton Rouge, ca 1800.
I've hunted high and low all over GA, found Isaac's land and neighbors, and have tried to backtrack him.I suspect he came down via NC and SC, but no proof yet.DNA testing says that we connect somehow to the main body of Brownings, and I'm currently pursuing a lead in Tyrrell/Martin Cos, NC.But no proof yet.
If you don't have what Duane sent me about the AR Brownings, I'll be glad to pass it on.I'll just have to find it.
