Sir Thomas Lauder Brunton b. March 14, 1844, Hiltonshill, Roxburgh - d. Sept 16, 1916, London. Physician, best known for his research on circulation, who found that amyl nitrite relieved the pain of angina pectoris.Studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh and for three years abroad. He returned to London and was associated in turn with the Middlesex (1870) and St. Bartholomew's (1871 - 1904) hospitals. Wrote many medical books - my mother has copies of some. Am not a direct descendant from him, but my gggrandfather was David William Brunton b. June 11, 1849, d. Dec. 17, 1927. Hope this helps.
