Are we mixing Morgans and Johns up?It seems like it to me, but I am still new to this Bryan arena so please correct me if I am wrong. The reference I have states that John the son of Morgan/Martha was born 9 April 1730 in Orange Co., Virginia and died BEFORE 5 Nov 1800 in Rowan Co, NC and was married to Sarah. His will was filed in Rowan Co (NC) Will Book D, p. 1-2 and was PROBATED on 5 Nov 1800 (couldn't it sometimes take several years after death for will be to probated?).His children were listed in the Will as being Samuel, James, John Jr., Jane, Jannett, Elizabeth, Sarah, Mary, Margere (Margery). Then Morgan/Martha had a son - Morgan Jr. who married Mary Forbush. His will was probated 3 July 1804 and he also had a son named John.It was this John that married Elizabeth Frances Battle. He was born abt 174? He is believed to have died at the hands of a body of radical Whigs under the command of Captain John Johnson after the Battle of Shallow Ford (Battle Branch) that occurred 14 Oct 1780.Other children of this Morgan/Mary were Lieutenant James Bryan b. 174?, Joseph Bryan b. 1750 in Rowan Co, Rebecca b c 1753 in Rowan Co, Mary b 1756 Rowan Co (md Samuel McMahan), George b 15 Feb 1758 Rowan Co, Morgan (III) died 1815, Sarah b 1764. It's kind of hard not to confuse them, I would think.
