Having obtained from my father during a visit to Canada some additional information on the Brydon family that can trace itsroots to Lauder, Berwickshire , ScotlandI thought I would provide thisfollow up.
With reference to “I’m not sure of the family before Isabella Taylor (d. 1881) and Walter Brydon (d. 1875)” I think I can safely say that I can now trace our Brydon line back a further three generations to a John Brydon (b. 1695) who married Isobel Weatherstone who had three or more sons (John b.1732, James b.1734) including Andrew Brydon (b. 1736) who had who a son Robert Brydon (b.1761 d.1831) who married Catherine Adamson, the parents of Andrew (b. 1803), James and Walter Brydon (b 1810 d.1875) who married Isabella Taylor(b.1811 d.1891 rather than 1881 stated above) The fact that Walter Brydon and Isabella (daughter of Thomas Taylor and Elizabeth Palfrey) married in 1833named one of their daughters Catherine Adamson would seem to confirm that Walter Brydon was the the son of Robert Brydon (b. 1761 d.1831) and Catherine Adamson. As if additional proof was needed there is apparently (I believe in Heriot) which connects Robert Brydon, Catherine Adamson Walter Brydon , Isabella Taylor and Margaret Palfrey
Sadly it would appear that Isabella and Walter Brydon had two infants (unknown and James both deceased in 1835) who died in their first year before the birth of :
Margaret Palfrey (b. 21 February 1837 d. 21 December 1895) Catherine Adamson (b.1840d. 18 May 1913) Robert m. Luisa Hunting (b.7 April 1844 d. 1913) Thomas Taylor m. Annie M. Blair (b. 17 May 1846d. 1914) William Walter m. Jenny Marshall (b. 21 February 1848 d. 1 June 1916) John Brydon m. Helen Catherine Dempster (b.. 28 March 1850 d. 14 November 1922) Isabella m Rev. John Sutherland (b. 12 September 1853 d.???
The 1881 Censuswould seem to suggest that Margaret Palfrey and Catherine Adamson never married and lived on Brydon family farms in the Lauder, Berwickshire area.
My great grandparents were John Brydon (b.1850 d. 1922) and Helen Catherine Dempster (daughter of James Dempster and Helen Moor) who had the following offspring:
Mary, an infant (?) deceased in 1880 Helen Moor never married Walter married Edith Cornett James Dempster married Elizabeth Ball or Bell? John Earnscleugh Brydon (Dr.) killed in Arras, France 27 June 1917 Robert Brydon (b. 6 October1883) married Florence Mary Wawn (b. 30 July 1883), my grandparents. Andrew Dempster married Josephine Crump
Unfortunately, I have a lotless information regarding birth dates and death dates of the latest generation than the previous generation – there is still lots of research to be done.
