Johann Martin Buchner; Buchner-Zehrung; NJ, PA
(cross-posted Buchner and Boughner)
My interest in Johannes Martin Buchner is connected to the Zehrung family and the locations of Buchners/Boughners in Northumberland Co., and Greene Co. PA
From a site on the ancestors and descendants of Johannes Zehrung, I find well-documented names of the children of Martin Buchner and Elsa Zehrung from chuirch records with birth dates and christening dates.
1.Elisabeth Maria Zerung was born 1704 in Germany. She married Johann Martin Buchner November 28, 1727 in Unnau, Germany.
Children of Elisabeth Zerung and Johann Buchner are:
2 i. Johannes2 Buchner, born 1729.
3 ii. Anna Eva Buchner, born November 10, 1731.
4 iii. Johann Christ Buchner,born Feb.14, 1733.
5 iv. Johann Henrich Buchner, born Dec. 10, 1734.
6 v. Anna Catharina Buchner, born May 07, 1737.
7 vi. Jost Buchner, born March 19, 1738/39.
8 vii. Johann Christ Buchner, born Dec. 30, 1742.
9 viii. Johann Theiss Buchner, b c. Jan. 24,1744/45.
10 ix. Christian Buchner, born March 28, 1747.
Martin Buchner with his wife Elsa Zehrung and family arrived on the same ship as Johannes Zehrung and his family, the Rowand arr. Phila Sept-29-1753.
I understand several of the Buchner sons went to Ontario. Johannes Zehrung, brother to Elsa, sold land in Northumberland Co. PA to my ancestor John Rush.
I also find a John Buchner in the 1820 census in Northumberland Co., PA, age class 45+, so born before 1775, he is John Buchner, 000001//20001. Since this is very near where the Zehrung land was located, I want to understand how this Buchner may be related to Martin Buchner and Elsa Zehrung.
Additionally, in Western PA, with many of my related NJ Rushes there are two census records of Martin Boughner:
1790 census, Fayette County, Martin Boughner 1-2-1
1810 census, Greene County, Morris Twp, Martin Boughner 10010//41010
(born 1765-1784)
I also understand there is a Daniel Boughner b c 1735 and Catherine Howell who may fit in here somewhere, as well as a Martin Buchner who fights in the revolution.
I would be most grateful for any information that could connect the Northumberland John Buchner mentioned above and/or the Fayette/Greene Martin Boughner(s) back to the immigrant families.
Thanks !
