This is exciting stuff indeed!! Sorry about the slow reply but notification of your reply went to my junkmail box which I never really look in. While I am still waiting for some documentation, I think my William BUCKHAM who was a convict, married Margaret DEANS (who was a convict too) in Fingle, Tasmania in 1853. Their daughter Georgina married Henry THIER(S)in 1869 at Longford, Tasmania. They had a number of children, but in particular, Georgina who married a William COLLINS, apparently in Melbourne, had various children with him, one of whom was my grandmother Elsie, born 1892.William either died or was ditched as about 1893, she with her three daughters, came to NZ, and I think with a Jon JANSSON, a Swedish sailor. They married here in 1895. He died in 1905 and she then married Charles McCLOSKEY in 1907. Georgina died in 1918. I am not certain of the exact detail of the Australian parts but I think Georgina had a number of children who died young.
How does this fit with your information. The THIER(S)angle is intriguing to me, particularly as they came via the US. Also, Bridgport is only about 25Km from where my GILLARDs came from in Somerset, but that's another story!
I look forward to your reply andany details you might have.
