Thanks so much for answering my message and for the info about the land having been bought by James' father, William. It helps answer why the Penquites came to Ohio.
I made copies of some of my ancestors' burial records the last time I was at the genealogy library in Warren Co., OH.It just so happens that on the same page are a James and Elizabeth. His age at time of death matches perfectly with the birthdate of Mary's older brother James on her Family Group Record that I printed off from the LDS site.I bet all the Penquites buried at Union Cemetery in Warren Co, OH, are related. One thing I don't understand though, is that on the 1850 Census Mary lists her birthplace as VA, but on the 1860 Census she says Pennsylvania. The LDS site says all nine children born to William and Keziah Bradfield Penquite were born in VA.I wonder if they moved from Bucks Co., PA to VA and then to OH.
I know that Bucks Co. had a large Quaker community.Do you know if the Penquites or Bradfields were Quakers?Mary Penquite's son, Absolom Glasscock-my ggggrandfather, married a lady whose father was a Quaker(Hollingsworth family). It just makes me wonder if the Penquites and Bradfields were Quakers, too.
Do you happen to know anything about the original Penquite immgrants-where they came from...
