Thomas Buckman died about 1713 in Gloucester County, NJ. His will dated 28 Jun 1708 names his wife Elizabeth as sole executrix. However, when the will was proved 13 May 1713 the court granted administrator cum testamento annexo to Simon Clifton. The will mentions daughters Ann, Sarah (wife of George Hamlock), Mary, Elizabeth, Judy and Ruth. Elizabeth had apparently died before Thomas.
Research has failed to connect Thomas Buckman to anyone. I believe he could be the Thomas Buckman who was born 3 Nov 1654 in Billinghurst, Sussex, England to Edward and Joan (Bagham) Buckman. This Thomas Buckman supposedly died at sea in 1682 aboard the "Welcome." He was accompanying his widowed mother Joan Buckman, brothers William and Edward and sister Ruth. The widow Buckman and Edward also died at sea. William settled in Newtown, Bucks County, PA. Ruth Buckman married Richard Harrison in the home of Joshua and Elizabeth Wright in Nottingham, Burlington, NJ.
I am very interested in Thomas Buckman of Gloucester because I believe that his daughter Ann became the wife of Simon Clifton, my fifth great grandfather. Simon and Ann Clifton reside in Chester Township (then in Burlington County) and had eight children: Thomas, John, Ann, Elizabeth, Rachel, Hannah, Simon and Esther. Simon and Esther were twins born the year that Simon died.
If anyone has researched Thomas Buckman of Gloucester please let me know what you have found.
