I live in Brentwood, CA and until recently only knew RI and CT through maps. However, I just spent 18 very enjoyable days on the east coast, especially RI and CT. The Budlong family association has a site on the internet and I have been in touch with them. They show Rosanna Budlong married to Captain John Holden Rhodes and I am relatively sure of that couple and their respective ancestries. However, there is only a single undocumented reference that they had a daughter, Hannah, one of perhaps 12 children. This reference originated from a descendant of Hannah's in an application to the Roger Williams Family Association submitted without support.Dorothy White of the Roger Williams Family Association was kind enough to check the original applications for me. Rosanna's brother, Joseph Budlong, married Lydia Rhodes, sister of Captain John Holden Rhodes. That couple moved to Voluntown in 1782 and left Voluntown for NY in about 1794.Some of their children should have been recorded in Voluntown. Anthony Rhodes, brother of Captain John Holden and Lydia, married 15 APR 1784 in Voluntown, CT, Rehebiah Budlong (reportedly from Baily, CT Marriages, v., iii, p1) and so some of their children may be recorded there. Nicholas Rhodes, son of Captain John Holden Rhodes and Rosanna Budlong married 21 AUG 1791 Sally Ann Adams, daughter of Stephen Adams, apparently in CT (reportedly from Baily, CT Marriages, Vol. III, p129). Captain Sion Rhodes, brother of Nicholas and Hannah, was born 30 JUL 1789 at Bridgewater, Oneida Co, NY, which establishes that Captain John Holden Rhodes and Rosanna Budlong had moved to NY by then.Hannah would have been about 24 years old at that time and possibly married to Nathan Case of RI.They lived in RI and their children were born there.Their daughter Ann Nancy Case (my ancestor) was born 26 APR 1796 on Prudence Island, RI. Elder Daniel Budlong, Sr., married Rebecca Davis, daughter of Aaron Davis circa 1740.This couple were the parents of Rosanna and Anthony mentioned above.Daniel reportedly was ". . . frequently buying and selling lands and changing his abode in RI and CT.He moved to Coventry, RI, and then to Preston, CT, circa 1786.He later moved briefly to Voluntown, CT before settling in NY circa 1790.
