After John Stokes and Lucinda Bugbee settled in Clinton, Wisconsin, several other Bugbees moved into town; it seems very likely that they were her brothers.
HISTORY OF VERNON COUNTY, WISCONSIN (Springfield, Ill.: Union Publishing Co., 1884), p. 492:
"In other portions of the town [Clinton], in 1855, settled Thomas Seaman and John Stokes, on section 13. Mr. Stokes died, March 26, 1878." "Among the number who settled in the town during 1856 were: Samuel H. Bugbee. . . . Samuel H. Bugbee settled on section 12, in March. He was from the State of New York. He purchased eighty acres of land from his brother, Elija L. Bugbee. He died Nov. 21, 1872. [para.] Luke Bugbee, a brother of Samuel, was also an early settler."
