Chris:According to a Bugbee geneology I have, Abiel Bugbee, (b. 2/27/1747, Union,CT, m. Hannah Harwood 11/15/1770, d. 1/17/1824, Pomfret,VT)lived in Union,CT, and was at Bunker Hill under General Israel Putnam; he was at White Plains and in three campaigns in the Revolutionary War.An old Revolutionary soldier by the surname of Pike, at Phillipston, MA, who fought at Bunker Hill, said that General Putnam and Abiel Bugbee were the last two men who left the hill.Abiel's shoe buckle was shot off his shoe but, otherwise, he escaped.His courage lasted longer than his ammunition, for when that was gone, he threw stones.Moved to Pomfret,VT, 1788; in 1888, one hundred of his descendants celebrated the 100th anniversary of his coming to Pomfret,VT.
