I found out just a few weeks ago that my Burden family split off into a Burdine line in the late 1700's or early 1800's.I'm wondering if you had already found that out.I see that your posting is a couple of years old.
I am a descendant of James Burden, born about 1740 in NJ, but having lived variously in Maryland and Virginia before he went to Kentucky. In fact, the part of Kentucky he lived in--Bourbon (and his part became Nicholas) County--may have originally been Virginia. He died in 1806, and I have a copy of his short will.
I know that he had a first wife, whose name I cannot discover.I hope your line of the family knows her name.By her, James fathered Charles, John, Samuel, Elijah, another son whose name I do not know, and daughters Sarah Roxanne and Mary.
By his second wife, Mary Brain, he had 11 children. They included Benjamin Fulton (my ancestor), Jemima, Polly, Rachel, Jane, Levinah, William, Martha Patsy, Eldridge, Delilah, and Ishmael.
I wonder if we each have some information about the other half of the James Burden family that might be helpful to the other.I'd be happy to share with you anything I have.
