Stephen,
Have you found them on the 1850/60 census'?
How do you know they came from Baden ? How long were they in MO ? When did they arrive in MO ?
The reason I ask is I've been researching a John BURGETT, my (Burgett) folks settled in IL. & IN. I found where there was a John BURGETT that had filed an intent for citizenship in Tippecanoe co., IN. in 1849.I sent off for a copy of the document, but once I received it, I realized this was not my John. But saved the document anyway.OK, here's where it get's interesting. It says he is aged 26 in 1849, making him born in 1823..and that he arrived in NY in 1846 & that he owes alegiance to:
"Leopold Grand Duke of Baden in Germany"
I'm wondering if this John could be a brother to your Charles. If you have any further information on your Charles let me know & maybe this document is your's. I'd like to see it get in to the proper hands. I'm wondering if BURGETT & all it's variant spellings is a rather common name, at least in that part of Germany.Do you know where Baden is located ? is it close to the Netherlands ?
Don't know if this will help or not.I can say that I don't believe Any of our BURGETT's went to MO.
