My name is Michelle Lynn Burgin. I am seeking information in regards to my great grandfather Walter Sherman Burgin. I have posted previously but now I have discovered the correct information about him. I know he was born in Kentucky on April 3, 1899. I am not sure if his parents are William and Nannie B. Burgin. I discovered this information from a 1900 Mount Eden, Spencer County, Kentucky census. Walter S Burgin was listed on this census at the time being 1 year old and born April 1899. Since I don't know anything past him it is hard for me to determine if this is him or not.
I do know that Walter married Mabel (Mable) Hughes on April 27, 1918. Mabel was born on August 2, 1900 to Joseph and Ellen Hughes. He completed a world war 1 draft registration card on September 11, 1918 (I have a copy of this form). At the time of this draft card he lived in Frankfort, Indiana working as a section hand on the C.I.&L. Ry. Co. I know that he was tall, medium build, blue eyes and dark brown hair. He had no disabilities at that time. On November 25, 1918 they had Mary Ellen. On March 8, 1920 they had Ruth Lucille. According to the 1920 census he is not listed but it mentions that Mabel was divorced. I'm not sure if this was correct or not. I do know that he did have more children after this. In 1922 James Allen and a twin brother who died as an infant were born. In 1923 my grandpa Walter Junior was born (later changed his name to Jack since he was angry with his father for leaving them around 1928 or 1929).
A little information about my grandpa Walter Junior a.k.a. Jack. He married Margaret Lowler in 1942 and some time between 1948 divorced her. He then married my grandma Mary Myers in 1948. They had 6 children before they divorced. They were Evelyn, Joseph or Joe, Jerry, Jackie, Johnnie and Elizabeth. My father is Jackie. My grandma died when my dad was in high school. My grandpa then later married Betty Tony and were married until she died.
This is all the information I have on my great grandfather. If you happen to know any more information about him it would be greatly appreciated.
