The eight christenings were all extracted at the State Archives in Bern during examinations of microfilm containing original records which also included marriages and deaths. It was normal practive to christen the child within about two weeks of birth. Each record shows in addition to the name of the child the parents to be Michael Burkalter and Adelheit Kobel and also given were the names of 2 or 3 witnesses who were often relatives. No further evidence was found in these records for Michael and Adelheit after 1732.
A search has been made in early records of various churchs in Lutzelfluh area for a death record for Adelhiet but none has been found. I am not aware of any documented evidence as to the place and time of her death. Best regards, Carlton Wood
Early colonial records refer to Michael's 7 young children, 2 daughters and 5 sons. Based on this information, the order of births, names of the sons and other factors the profile of Michaels family is a fit whereas the other four Michaels in this period in Lutzelfluh are not.
