First, Andrew EBENSBERGER married Sarah DRANE in March, 1872. Sarah DRANE was born inTarentum, Allegheny Co., PA in 1852. (Sarah Drane is the grandaughter of Philip Burtner and Margaret Negley, daughter of Elizabeth Burtner and Kinsie Drane.)Andrew and Sarah apparently had no children. I can find no reference for anEBENSBERGER family in the 1880 census at the LDS site. Could the name be misspelled? Or could theyhave died or . . . …?
The second is a Herman H. SCHWERDERING who married Sarah Elizabeth BURTNER in June 1886and the couple had seven children between 1867 and 1882. Sarah Elizabeth was born abt 1842 in Tarentum, Allegheny Co., PA.(Sarah Elizabeth Burtner is the daughter of Philip Purtner, III and Eliza Murdock and grandaughter of Philip Burtner, Jr. and Margaret Negley.)BUT, Herman SCHWERDERING's family doesnot show up in the 1880 census at the LDS site. Again, could the name be spelled wrong and what are some alternative spellings?
A broken family perhaps: Third, a Harry PORTER married Margaret Ellen BURTNER in Feb., 1865. Margaret Ellen was also born in Tarentum, Allegheny Co., PA about 1840. (Margaret Ellen Burtneris the daughter of Philip Purtner, III and Eliza Murdock and grandaughter of Philip Burtner, Jr. and Margaret Negley.)Harry and Margaret PORTER had three children, but the first one, Florence died in 1873. Published sources say the family moved to McKeesport and are very vague aboutevents after that. I cannot find the family in the 1880 census at the LDS site, BUT it does have a listing for a 13 year old Althea PORTER, a servant, living with a family in Summit, Butler Co., PA. AND there is alisting for a Margaret E. and Leland Porter (wife and son?) living with another family at Cecil, Washington Co., PA. The LDS site says that Leland Porter is the son of #2649, but I don't know who that might be.IF someone has access to the 1880 census, they might be able to help.
