Dear Jo, Joelle and Simon.I hope you won't mind my intrusion.I am trying to build up the family tree and am stuck at your ancestor George Arthur.
A marriage entry for 1877 4th QuarterIndex 1d 793 tells me that a George Arthur Burtwell married Elizabeth in the Lambeth district.
The 1881 Census records George Arthur aged 21 and Elizabeth aged 19 living at 131 Waterloo Road where he was a Pub manager.( Is this the Victoria Tavern of George's parents William and Amelia Rosetta?
George Arthur's son and namesake, I assume, married Alice Doris Keilich in the June quarter of 1901 . 1d 769 in the Lambeth district.
I have always assumed that Elizabeth Burtwell must have died in childbirth, or otherwise young, and that George Arthur senr. remarriedGertrude Helena. But I can find no record of her marriage or death. Are the children referred to by Joelle all by Gertrude, or are any of them by Elizabeth.?
I would love to be able to fill in a few more leaves to the family tree, butdo want to be sure I'm recording accurately. It's a fascinatingpuzzle, and maybe one of you can resolve it for me.
Either on the Forum or by email I would value having some of your dates as well.
