i have a question for hte william bush and mary staley family and their decendents of mason and cabell counties wv/va......my family needs to know if there is a genetic defect that affects the liver it is called hemachromatosis, (too much iron in the blood that the liver cant get rid of) i ask because we have several male members that have or had this problem and we'd like to be able to pin point the family it comes from, we're between the bush and carpenter families. the females are carriers but show no signs of it, males are the only ones to show signs of this disorder. it is passed down therough the generations (at least it is believed to be in our family). i know testing for such things as this was not done in the early days but if we could see who died of consumption or other ways of saying liver problems we'd greatly appreciate it. thanks!!!!
