You know, it used to be that a family tree on Ancestry.com was available through Genealogy.com. Apparently, that's no longer true. So, I just created a page at Genealogy.com and uploaded my family tree. It can be found at http://www.genealogy.com/users/b/u/s/James-F-Busse-IL/http://www.genealogy.com/users/b/u/s/James-F-Busse-IL/. Please roam to your heart's content. But keep in mind, our Busse family was relatively small compared to others.
As noted on the home page, the Busse family went into brickmaking and contracting after the Chicago fire. They were somewhat affluent apparently, however my greatgrandfather Friedrich G died early (in 1878). The others carried on the businesses. Johann (John), according to a Chicago Tribune obit, was involved with the development of Concordia Cemetery in Forest Park, IL (where he and others of my family are buried...as well as at Wunders Cemetery near Wrigley Field).
If you're making a road trip to Chicago, one great place to visit is the Newberry Library on the near North side. They have mivrfilm of both St. Paul and First Immanuel Lutheran church records, my family having been members of First Immanuel (which still exists today).
