I have been doing some more Butler research because I thoroughly enjoy helping out everyone; especially, fellow Butler researchers.
The particular BUTLER that I have researched is Colonel Zebulon Butler of Ipswich, Massachusetts. I hope that members of your Irish Butler Society find this information both useful and interesting.

According to Elmer Butler, Zebulon Butler was a descendant ofthe Dukes of Ormonde. Col. Zebulon Butler was the son of John and Hannah (nee Perkins) Butler. He was b. 23 January 1731 in Ipswich, Massachusetts. He was baptized at a church in Chebacco in Ipswich, MA on 3 December 1732. He and his parents later moved to Lyme, Connecticut in 1736; whereupon, he was raised. He was the grandson of Lieutenant William Butler of Ipswich, Massachusetts. Col. Zebulon BUTLER was married three times.
He m. 1stly, Anne Lord (d. 1773), dau. of John and Hannah (nee ROGERS) Lord, and had issue as follows:
Lord Butler (b. 11 December 1761), Zebulon Butler (b. 12 November 1767), and Hannah (b. 28 February 1770, m. Roswell WELLES, who was a lawyer, judge, colonel, and a member of the Assembly) Col. Zebulon's eldest son, General Lord BUTLER m. Mary PIERCE, dau. of Abel PIERCE. General Lord Mary BUTLER had issue as follows:
(1) Pierce (2) John (3) Chester (4) Zebulon (5) Lord (6) Sylvina, m. Garrick MALLERY (7) Ruth Ann, m. John N. CONYNGHAM (8) Phoebe, m. Dr. Donalson; they moved to Iowa, USA.
Colonel Zebulon BUTLER m. 2ndly, Lydia Johnson, in August 1775, dau. of Reverend Jacob JOHNSON. Lydia Butler d. 26 June 1781. Col. Zebulon and Lydia nee Johnson BUTLER had an only child:
(1) Zebulon Butler.
Colonel Zebulon Butler, m. 3rdly, Phoebe HAIGHT in November 1781 and had (3) children as follows:
(1) Stuben BUTLER (2) Lydia, m. George GRIFFIN, son of George and Eve (nee DORR) GRIFFIN (3) Nancy, m. John W. ROBINSON, eldest son of Samuel and Priscilla (nee METCALF) ROBINSON. Nancy ROBINSON nee BUTLER and John ROBINSON, her husband's only dau. m. H.B. WRIGHT, Speaker of the Assembly. (Butler, 56-57)
