I'm excited you have so much information on the Cage family, and hope you may be able to help me.I am trying to help a friend find her Cage ancestry, and this is what she knows:
Cage Family of Woodville, MS, Wilkinson County
Mother: Amelia Hays
(Probably died before the Civil War)
Adelaide – Born 1836Died 1869Age 33
Lizzie Carrielle (Elizabeth)Died Jan. 24, 1880
AmeliaDied of child birth
WilliamDied in horse accident
AndrewDied of T.B. on ship at sea
OliverDrummer boy in Union Army
Harry Hays (Amelia Hays Cage’s brother) sent the five daughters to convent school in Philadelphia after parents died.
After the Civil War:
Adelaide married Jules Lambert and moved to New Orleans. She had a daughter, Louisa Mary (Mary Louise) who was born July 10, 1859 and died June 13, 1927.*
Margaret became a nun, but later left the order.
Lizzie married Charles Woodward, Jr. of Cincinnati.
Fanny married ? Thorne of St. Louis.
Oliver moved to the Black Hills.
*Mary Louise Lambert married George August Heinrich Freund and had 12 children.
The only time my friend found any of this family in the census was 1860.Adelaide was living with Jules Lambert, and was listed as mulatto.
Is any of this information familiar?
